Official announcement of the Vivo V3 6nm image chip; anticipated to be found in the Vivo X100 series

The Vivo Video Festival was a special event that Vivo held on July 30 in China. The business unveiled the Vivo V3, its most recent in-house image chip, at this occasion, paired with a brand-new Zeiss T* coating technology.

Official launch of the Vivo V3

The V3, Vivo's first imaging chip created with the cutting-edge 6nm process technology, has a 30% improvement in energy efficiency over its forerunner. The performance of the algorithm is improved while power consumption is decreased thanks to a newly developed multi-concurrent AI perception-ISP architecture and the second-generation FIT interconnection system.

Additionally, the Vivo V3 enables for seamless integration with the phone's SoC and drastically cuts the amount of time needed for picture processing by 20%. The 4K movie portrait video editing and shooting capabilities of the V3 imaging chip include advanced color processing, skin quality optimization, and bokeh blur at movie level. Users may also edit their photos after they are taken and change the blur and focus points to give their portrait films a cinematic appearance.

The partnership between Vivo and Zeiss, which resulted in the release of the new Zeiss T* coating technology, is another noteworthy milestone. The main camera of the future X-series flagship model will have reflectance reduced by 50% thanks to this technology and Multi-ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition), vastly enhancing image quality. In order to improve zoom performance, a new "Vario-Apo-Sonnar" standard telephoto lens has been introduced.

In order to improve user experience, Vivo is not only concentrating on hardware improvements but also on algorithm optimization to improve portrait and night scene photography. To further advance mobile photography, it is also investigating next image technologies like 3D portrait reconstruction and the AIGC future portrait laboratory.

Although Vivo has not yet specified which smartphone would be the first to include the V3 imaging technology, it looks that the X series flagship phones will be able to use it. It's likely to be compatible with the Vivo X100 Pro and X100 Pro+.
